When you’re in Newfoundland there’s just one fish - COD.
There’s so many ways to make a fishcake, and depending on who’s house you’re visiting for a cuppa tea, it could be very different from the last one you had. A few things will stay the same though. There will always be COD / POTATO / SAVORY mixed in there somewhere. Without those few ingredients it simply just isn’t a fishcake. As strict as we are with this you can use another white fish if you must. Just don’t call it a FISH cake!
